I've been putting some serious miles on my little pick-up truck this week. In the last four days I've had the chance to surf the Snake River in Wyoming as well as Lake Michigan in Michigan. I intended to try to surf those waves on this trip but to be honest I don't know if I believed it would actually happen. I thought maybe the Snake River's water flow wouldn't be right or Lake Michigan would be flat, so I feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to surf those freshwater waves.
This photo was one of my last views of the Pacific (technically the Straight of Juan de Fuca), and as fun as freshwater surfing has been, I still prefer waves with a little more salinity. Hopefully by tomorrow night I will be breathing in the salty air of the Atlantic.
